Interim Housing Coordinator

Small but growing nonprofit focusing on homelessness seeks part-time Interim Housing Coordinator. In order for our programs to reach their maximum potential, our Guests need a stable, safe, healthy, and positive place in which to make life changes. The Interim Housing Coordinators are responsible for creating and ensuring a safe, healthy, and respectful community for Guests. Guests will become more invested in their own life changes when they feel connected to something larger than themselves - a community. They will see how their actions affect the community, and how they can learn and benefit from others in the community. Creating this sense of community will result in greater social skills and more positive decision-making abilities, which in turn will lead to more lasting life changes. Hours: 10-14 hours per week with additional fill-in opportunities available for extra shifts. Must be available to work weekday or weekend shifts (morning and evening). Weekend shifts are 7 hours. Weekday morning shifts are 8 hours and weekday evening shifts are 5 hours. Holiday shifts are 7 hours with increased pay (1.5x). EXPERIENCE: Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, mental illness and/or substance abuse. Ability to respond to crisis situations and develop appropriate responses to unexpected situations. Must be willing to complete a 20-hour unarmed security training course and/or have current PERC registration. High school diploma. RESPONSIBILITIES: Programs & Services: Create and promote a healthy community environment for residents of the community. Supervise operations of Interim Housing Community to ensure smooth operation and consistency of program implementation. Supervise the activities of the Interim Housing Community. Enforce all rules and policies of the the organization fairly, consistently, and while using a trauma informed approach. Interact with and assist in providing orientation to new volunteers. Assist in communication with all volunteers to ensure procedures are followed. Supervise daily activities including showers, laundry, chores, computer lab, and phone use. Provide regular neighborhood security patrols. Identify needs of Guests and report to program staff as appropriate. Provide overnight supervision of the Interim Housing Community when a volunteer is unable to fill the shift (10pm to 6:30am). Extra shift coverage when necessary. Other duties as assigned. Operations & Administration: Attend meetings as needed. Maintain accurate record of daily operations in communication logs. Maintain and stock supplies. Keep all spaces in the community organized and assist with donation sorting. Maintain accuracy and confidentiality of client files. Other duties as assigned.
